At the CMAs, in my farewell viewing, that fine ballad by
The Fruit Guys, entitled You Can’t over Love. The closest to country music on the whole show.
Other than that, 3 hours of my life I ain’t getting back.

Hi Ken,
Just curious your definition of country? George Jones, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard vein? Good old Bakersfield honky tonk? Al-country American qualify? Billy Joe Shaver?
Welcome, BB! You probably got here in the midst of WP theme exploration. Anyhow, as far as country goes, I like what is now referred to as “alt country”; Siderunners, Flatlanders, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Rex Hobart & the Misery Boys, etc. In my younger day, it was referred to as “progressive country”, and included Waylon, Willie, Jerry Jeff Walker, et.al. The older I get, the more I appreciate the music my grandfather listened to, which includes George, Buck, Loretta Lynn, and Merle.
So I guess the short answer to your question is yep, I like everyone you mentioned.
To me, country is simple melodies and meaningful words you can understand. It has deep roots, and incorporates traits of lots of genres: blues, gospel, bluegrass, and even a little Celtic on occasion. What it isn’t is most of what I saw on the CMAs, IMO.
Thanks for stopping by; come by anytime; we never close

Hey Ken-I hear you loud and clear. I play some of this kind of stuff in my eclectic mix of things-love it all. Dwight Yoakam is one of my favorite singers on God’s green earth. Hae you ever checked out http://austinriffs.com? They play a fair amount but also have blues and NOLA style funk mixed in. A wonderful show-makes you feel almos voyeurish-like you’re eaves dropping on the neighbors “too” fun party next door.
10 billion B0flies sneezing, kind of a scary concept, but nt as scary as 1 billion Chinese sneezing I think Taiwan island would shake pretty bad from that. Appreciate all yuour commenting over at Dave’s place. I know Dave would amplify that 100 times over.
