I suppose there’s some difficult-to-parse scenario under which KC could still make the playoffs, which translates to something involving their winning the balance of their games, San Diego and Pittsburgh losing, the swallows returning to Capistrano, and a favorable alignment of Pluto and Saturn.

So, I’ll recap their playoff prospects succinctly: “Wait until next season.”
