With the Akismet spam sludge-trap counter now at 970, this will doubtless be the week, or even maybe the night, where tbbs-land hits the 1000 mark.
You may call them dirty scumbags, but I’ve advanced from the common “enhancement” product spams, to hold ‘em poker, to legit sports handicapping, and now, I’m proud to say, to offers for discount hotels and mortgage refinance.

I think tonight is the night pjtrix gets its first real spam comment trapped in Akismet. I can feel it in my bones.
Seriously, I get NO comment spam! There’s a lot of crap http requests in the Bad Behavior database, though.
I actually turned Akismet off overnight this weekend. I was prepared to moderate a bunch of comments, thinking that should be a quick job. Next morning, not a single spam to be seen; moderation queue was clear.
Upon turning Akismet back on, I saw that 9 spams were there immediately. And not that it’s cause and effect, but there have been fewer spams since. Strange stuff.
