Today’s the day I dragged Firefox to the trash. It absolutely refused to let me log in to my Yahoo! mail. So I deleted the whole thing, preferences and all. Performed a clean install. Same result. So I dragged the whole schmear to the trash again, while muttering a few sotto voce comments about what a POS this software is, and how it would be a cold day in the hot place before I’d use the cotton-picker again.
At this point, the stubborn old-wankerish troubleshooter in me took over. I trashed the whole magilla yet again. After telling Little Snitch to let FFX connect on ports 80, and 443, I was successfully logged in to Yahoo!Mail. Then, a review of my exported Adblock filters revealed:
##mail.yahoo.com
A re-import of Adblock filters, minus that one, and all is well in browserville. It brings to mind a quote from a former co-worker which went something like:
You have to be smarter then the device you’re operating.
Exactly. And it’s getting to be harder to do, with every passing day.
