Have you ever left work, tired, with a noticeable pain in your foot? A pain so severe your foot would hardly flex? That made you walk with a noticeable limp? And when you got home, did you take off your shoes and socks, to discover the big toe on one foot is noticeably larger than the one on the other foot? Did you put ice on the offending foot, and it felt a little better? And were you able to remember when this injury happened?
Me either.

Hate to say it, but it sounds exactly like my introduction to life with gout.
Same thought crossed my mind.

Think no more. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck.
Bad News; Beer is one of the baddies for gout suffererers. No shellfish, beans, most mushrooms. Watch meat consumption. All kinds of fun stuff.
Gout and it’s sister ailments-kidney stones and another who’s name I forget causes crystals to form under skin.
Gout sufferer’s are not able to process and filter purine adequately.
It sucks being an expert at this. I’ve suffered those painful toes, kidney stone, and painful wrists.
Get better, y’all!
I’m a type 2 diabetic, so I’m familiar with the dangers of bad circulation (not directly, but through the literature about the disease.) I do get the occasional swollen feet and numb fingers, though. But that usually only happens when I am out to eat with friends or family, ingest too much sodium and my blood pressure goes wacky.
