I hate to post some more from Newt Gingrich, but here is more detail on his First Amendment views:
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich yesterday in Manchester said the country will be forced to reexamine freedom of speech to meet the threat of terrorism.
Gingrich, speaking at a Manchester awards banquet, said a “different set of rules” may be needed to reduce terrorists’ ability to use the Internet and free speech to recruit and get out their message.
“We need to get ahead of the curve before we actually lose a city, which I think could happen in the next decade,” said Gingrich, a Republican who helped engineer the GOP’s takeover of Congress in 1994.
Talk about pandering and fear-mongering. Freedoms apply to all; even to those groups and views we’d most like to suppress. That’s why they’re called freedoms. We can reason, we can argue, but until someone acts on their views, and breaks the law, they are free to express them.
Read the rest of the article; Newt is losing it big-time.

Some might call me extreme, but I would rather lose a city than a whole country/way of life.
The people that hate us don’t hate our freedoms, contrary to the assertions of many DC based knuckleheads. They hate the fact that we meddle in their affairs so often to get their oil.
Of course, our answer to that is to meddle more…
We might not have to spend so much time worrying about getting stung if we stopped poking sticks into so many hornets nests.
Oh yeah, and Newt is a tool.
Thanks, James and Ken. You make me proud to be an American, right there shoulder to shoulder with you. My fear is that there are not enough sensible freedom-loving folks like you left, recent election results notwithstanding.
And by the way, the Republicans have been losing it, since long long ago. But I probably think that cuz I’m a Libertarian.
As for Newt’s new views, he’s just toeing the party line, cuz that is what keeps him speaking publically, for a fee, of course. He’s just doing what he needs to do to keep his GOP friends from forgetting him.
