I nearly let the Holiday season pass without a post about my seasonal likker purchase. Yesterday, it was time for a haircut, and there’s a Virginia ABC stors in the same strip mall village center as my haircut place.
I walked out of the ABC store with 750 ml of pure amber goodness: Jefferson’s Reserve Very Old, Very Small Batch Bourbon. From the website:
Jefferson’s Reserve takes many years to slowly naturally mature. In fact, by the time we open the barrel, approximately 50% of the bourbon has evaporated. We call that missing bourbon the angel’s share. Fifteen years of aging produces a bourbon with a rich bouquet, golden color and mellow flavor that you’ll find only in Jefferson’s Reserve. We hand-selected each barrel and then mingle them in a very small batch of perhaps a dozen barrels. You can see for yourself – each bottle is numbered.
I got bottle 647 of 2400 from Batch 47. And it’s pure ambrosia. And I consumed a small drop last evening, in the prescribed manner thusly:
We advise those purchasing our bourbon to use no mixers, please. Drink it neat, on the rocks, or with a splash of water.
At 35 bucks, best stuff I’ve had in a long time.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson: “Hmmm, bourbon.” Very old, very small batch, you say? For 35 americanos?
Dang! Writing this comment actually made my mouth water!
BTW, Happy New Year! It’s 12:33 a.m. over here as I write this!
