Congrats! Are you still keeping tabs of your monthly Akismet catch? I actually got quite a few bites since I started posting more often, which is rather interesting. I’ll keep a monthly log (simply, I’ll delete my Akismet catchings on the last day of every month. I’ll count them before I delete so that I’ll know how many I got per month.)
The Akismet spam trap had snagged 2539 posts. I also turn comments off on posts over 30 days old. That limits my exposure somewhat, though at the expense of possibly shortening some conversations. But I figure if something is worth commenting, 30 days should be enough time. I’ve seen on other blogs where someone makes a drive-by two line comment on an 18 month old post; I don’t think that adds much to conversation either.
Life’s a series of trade-offs, I guess.

I’m always surprised by your Akismet counts. I’ve barely broken 75, and that’s only from mid-November to the present. I had no Akismet spam until about six weeks ago.
I still maintain that the BadBehavior plugin is what is keeping the spambots at bay, as I have no other explanation. God knows I’ve spread my weblog’s URL far and wide in my commenting. Or maybe I just need to be half as prolific a “blodger” as you are to start attracting more of them buggers.
