Something Else I don’t know about WordPress

It is, and always has been, my full intention to allow trackbacks/pingbacks from other blogs. I’ve been known to trackback myself. I’ve noticed on a couple of blogs, namely, those of James and Dave, that all I have to do is include their post’s URL in my post here, and it shows up on their blogs.

It’s rare happening here to get a link to a specific post; when that happens, I want the trackback to appear in my blog on that post’s comments.

Do I have to do something on my end to enable that? I’ve looked at WordPress Options until I’m cross-eyed, and darned if I can see why it’s not happening. Do I need another plugin?

  1. Make sure that in the admin part when you go to Options>Discussionn the allow link notifications option is checked. If that is checked, I haven’t a clue.

That should be it. When they come in, they’ll go in the moderation queue just like any comment. Just because you get a link from someone doesn’t mean they tried to trackback. WP does it automatically but not every tool does. Do you know for sure someone tried to do it and nothing happened?

Thanks, James and Dave. The “allow links” is checked.

And if someone has the complete and correct URL of one of my posts in one of theirs, it should then show up, right?

I’m referring specifically to James’ “Karma Bites Man” post, wherein he had a link to my post. No trackback showed up here.

Then my “POD People” post showed up as tracked-back on James’ blog.

Does the posting tool make a difference?

Ken, I just posted a link to this blog post, and my WP blog pinged ya. I hope that helps you sleep better. :-)
