Bipartisan Fingers

OK, this SOTU is in the books, and I’ll rate it by the number of fingers I waved at the teevee and at whom during the proceedings. I have enough confidence in my readership to discern precisely which finger was waved.

Republicans: Michael Chertoff, Condoleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, John McKain.

Democrats: John Kerrey, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Shumer.

“Independents”: Joseph Lieberman, twice, or three times. How many times was he on camera? I sincerely hope I didn’t miss any opportunities.

All tied, 4-4-1. Such bipartisanship is rare.

  1. What?!? His Royal Highass (as Dale Slusher would say), didn’t ever get the one gun salute? I find it hard to believe that Boy George didn’t say anything worth of the honor.

I didn’t watch the proceedings myself as the old stomach has been a little iffy lately. No sense in pushing my luck.

  2. I liked the “discern precisely which finger was waved” bit. LOL.

I don’t think McCain is great or anything, but I think he is not worthy of finger waving just yet. Any particular reason you felt he was deserving? Maybe you know something I don’t. But I liked all your other choices, specially Lieberman.

I didn’t care enough about the address to actually waste time watching. I already know what the SOTU is without having to watch: we’re f**ked. We went rom several billions of surplus before 9/11, to several trillion in deficit, and in only seven years. Great!

I had thought of the SOTU as a finger waving opportunity, as you did, I might have watched. I’ll try it next time, and see if I feel it was worth it after I try it once. :-)

I’m glad your ass felt rested enough to blodger on these past few days. Rest up s’more, although I think you’re already back to your usual fine form!
