I was 16 once, and am still working on sweet. The Jayhawks took care of the sweet part this evening, scoring an 88-76 win over the Kentucky Wildcats.
On to play Southern Illinois next weekend.

Via The Fat Guy comes news of the death of Wilford “Crazy Ray” Jones, the greatest unofficial mascot to ever tread the sidelines.
Whether or not you’re a Dallas Cowboy fan, you have to admit they’ve had their share of iconic personalities. And Crazy Ray was right there amongst them. Go on over to TFG’s place, and follow the link to the article about CR’s life and times.
RIP, Crazy Ray.

DirecTV’s NASCAR HotPass driver channels for today’s running of the Kobalt Tools 500 from Hot-Lanta Motor Speedway look like this:
795 – Mark Martin (#01) 796 – Tony Stewart (#20) 797 – Greg Biffle (#16) 798 – Jimmie Johnson (#48) 799 – Dale Earnhardt Jr (#8)
Between the racin’ and College Hoops, I expect the remote control will get quite a workout today.

Via Elder Daughter. I had to read the thing 3+ times before it sank in:
Shoulda bought a hat, Shawn, shoulda bought a hat.
A-yup.

I’ve used pobox.com for e-mail for 10 years now. They kill spam, and I get a daily report, to defend against false positives. I seldom look at the report, but today’s had some neat names in the From: line, so for your viewing pleasure:
Florinda Larae
Gabriela Latina
Hoodia Life
Luxembourg R. Gravity 1
Competence D. Forestalling 2
Junipers P. Cubic
Coffman R. Nora
Le Dean 3

I got a new WP plugin to make footnotes. Can U. Tell?

There are free throws to be made, shots to be blocked, and sub-14 second pit stops to be executed this weekend. Between the Big Dance and NASCAR, this weekend is just this side of heaven for an old coot like me. And it’s St. Patrick’s day. So it’s OK to have an extra brew or two with the events previously mentioned. Doesn’t get much better than that.
It’s a good time of year; and today, we’re all a wee bit Irish.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Kansas Jayhawks, 107. Niagara Purple Eagles, 671. Round 1. A 1 seed, a 16 seed. Five more consecutive wins, and the Jayhawks cut down the nets.
I’m not buying my championship paraphernalia yet, but that first win in the tournament is always sweet.
Rock Chalk!

1 – The Jayhawks played everyone but the cheerleaders, so as not to run up a score. But reserve players can perform, too.

No, that’s not the final score of a #1 seed over some hapless 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That’s yesterday’s high temperature versus today’s. Add to that the 2 or 3 inches of rain that fell today, now turning over to sleet, freezing rain and snow, and we’ve experienced nearly a year’s worth of weather in 48 hours. Except for the hot and humid days. And they’ll be here soon enough.

SWMBO enlightened her co-workers about the meaning of Pi Day today. They were appropriately impressed.
I didn’t stop by the Harris-Teeter tonight; I left work late, and just wanted to get home. However, SWMBO stopped by Trader Joe’s on her way home, and bought an apple tart and some vanilla gelato. Good dessert this evening.
And a hunk of the tart for the lunch pail tomorrow. No gelato, though. Meltage is a terrible thing.

I’m in another Red Hat indoctrination training class next month. This time, Red Hat 401, Red Hat Enterprise Deployment, Virtualization, and Systems Management.
It promises to be a great course, with RHEL 5 being released today; RHEL5 has many virtualization features incorporated. I wonder, how much of what I think I know still applies?
Learn and live.

I wish I had my RHCE certification. The RH 4xx courses all have a test that counts towards Red Hat Certified Architect certification, if you’re already an RHCE. Architect sounds good, even if my last name isn’t Costanza.
