Strangely, it looks like my old Razr. And it will look exactly like my old Razr until Verizon’s “New after Two” plan kicks in on 1/7/2008. Then the Razr will look like something else altogether. And I won’t have to camp out to effect the transformation.

I actually want one. It’s a Mac OS X PDA, man! You bet someone’s gonna eventually figure out how to get native code on it, iPhone SDK or no.
But I don’t want to become an AT&T subscriber. I have my standards, even if it means I can’t get my hacking toys.
When the iPhones come out in Europe, you will actually be able to put a sim chip from another GSM carrier, because locking phones to a carrier is illegal over there.
Cellphone manufacturers can have exclusive carriers, but the phones themselves can’t be locked to any carrier.
I believe they can’t decline to sell you one if you don’t get a contract, either, but I may be wrong about that. I am pretty certain about the locking phones to a carrier being illegal in Europe, though.
Anyway, my plan is to wait and see what happens in Europe with the iPhone, and buying an unlocked one and paying the extra shipping. I also have some buddies in the UK, from the Williams F1 project, that I could Paypal the money to in the event that one had to order only from Europe.
