Prison Break Break

No Prison Break on FOX on Monday. Baseball takes over in the autumnal ceremony. I’m an extremely fair-weather baseball fan. When it comes to the playoffs, I notice that I root not for some team I’m passionately for, but rather against a team I don’t like.
So, no Prison Break tomorrow.
Go Tribe. Anyone [...]

Go, Chieves

They have a halftime lead, 20-7. During the second half, they could still get handed their stindeens in a paper sack, but for now, I’m a happy boy.

Update: And helmets off to Tony Gonzalez of the Chieves, for catching more TD passes that any other [...]

Tag Mashing

Yesterday afternoon, the tag test post was evidence of my further efforts in WordPress 2.3 site tagging.
I have been using the Simple Tags plugin for Technorati tag generation for a while now, and I’ve been pleased with its functioning. With the advent of WP 2.3, you can now have site tags in your posts, [...]

Phone Messages

We had a message on our answering machine last week. The message was from our youngest granddaughter; she advised us that she had lost her first tooth.
A right of passage for her, another reminder for MLB and I that we’re growing older. Our oldest granddaughter turns 16 in February, an event that will make [...]

Football Sunday Afternoon

With the NASCAR event out of the way for this week, I’m rejoicing in the fact that the early game of the CBS NFL doubleheader in our region features the Kansas City Chieves.1
We don’t see many AFC West games in these parts; even rarer is an appearance by the Chieves. They’re playing Cincinnati, a [...]

Shinin’

A work buddy of mine recently toured the Virginia Moonshine Company of Culpeper VA. He returned with samples of their wares, and was gracious enough to share with a brother. Last evening, towards the end of the NASCAR race, my little bride and I cracked open the jug of Kopper Kettle, described [...]

Getting Home Early

I’ve been working my ass off lately, and decided today would be a good day to leave work early, at 6PM, and treat myself to an evening commute in daylight. Best laid plans, etc, as a major accident on I-95 intervened. This accident happened at 2PM, and I was aware that I-95 south [...]

Still Fighting after all These Years

There was an interview with country music legend Merle Haggard in yesterday’s Washington Post dead tree edition. The Hag turned 70 last April, and is still going strong.
The highlight of the interview, faithfully transcribed, about country radio:
Radio doesn’t want substance. If a song actually had an opinion, that’s the first thing they’d throw [...]
