I’m from Kansas. Growing up as I did on the Kansas-Nebraska border, I’ve been known to root for the Cornhuskers of Nebraska during football season.

Absence making the heart grow fonder and all, how ’bout them Jayhawks! The most points scored against a Husker football team, administered by a team near and dear to my own heart.

Thanks to a college friend, now from Chicago, for calling me whilst the game was still in progress. And thanks to Comcast Sports Net, for tape-delaying the game here, so I could see it. And thanks to NASCAR, for dropping the green flag on the big race tomorrow. In the Busch race, which I’d just got ready to watch, Carl Edwards clinched the Busch Championship, and Kevin Harvick won the race.

And to our good friends, Richard and Sue¹, thanks for the heads up about the game! And the Chicagoland NASCAR race runs 7/12/2008²
