Virtual Wednesday

Since I have Thursday and Friday off, today is my Wednesday. I love this time of year. I especially like having a 3-day week, preceded by a week out of my shabby cubicle while I was in class; that week was preceded by a 4-day week, since I took the 9th off in lieu of the Veterans Day holiday.

Yep, I could really get used to this. Maybe enough to sign up for Alternate Work Schedule. On second thought, no, AWS is still the last refuge of slackers.

Since I’ve retired, I don’t miss the work-a-day world at all. I finally get to do all the things I never could for 40 years - like join a daytime book club! The other day I found my Day Minder from my last year of work. Into the trash went that albatross — it was filled with meetings, appointments, deadlines, user names, passwords, long lists of phone numbers. Two years ago I would have been lost without it; now I couldn’t lose it fast enough. As a friend once said, “People on their deathbeds never say, “Gee, I wish I’d spent more time at work.’” Amen.
