NASCAR HotPass Lineup for the Great American Race

And the roar of powerful engines is heard over Daytona, with the 50th running of the Daytona 500 this afternoon. There are only 4 DirecTV driver channels with this year’s HotPass package. The good news is that all HotPass channels are now in HD.1 Even better news is that there’s a free preview of HotPass this weekend. So if you don’t have DirecTV, grab some brews and head to the house of a friend who does. Especially if he has HD.

Today’s lineup is as follows(channel/driver/car):

790 – Tony Stewart, #20.
791 – Dale Earnhardt, Jr – #882.
792 – Jeff Gordon, #24.
793 – Kevin Harvick, #29.

With all the changes in sponsors, numbers and drivers, this may be the first year I need a program to watch one of these, thereby forfeiting my redneck status.

1 Fat lot of good that does me; my little bride can’t see the wisdom of upgrading our satellite gear.

2 Wonder how long I’ll go without putting up #8 in one of these.

Crank it Up!

At 8PM EST tonight, the Budweiser Shootout on FOX. From Daytona. Regardless that Coors Light is now the Official Beer of NASCAR, we have the Budweiser Shootout1.

I remember when the Shootout was known as the Busch Clash.

I don’t remember when it wasn’t excitement on the speedway.

8 tonight – FOX – Be there, or be square.

Boogity-boogity-boogity!

1 NASCAR not being shy about ringing the cash register and all.

Flying the latest WordPress Banner

Never one to shy away from an upgrade, I upgraded to WordPress 2.3.3 just a few minutes ago. Another flawless upgrade.

After spending a day in the entrails of some at-work tcl stuff, I come home and install 2GB of memory in my eeePC, and upgrade my blog software.

Talk about a change of pace; I feel like a bus driver moonlighting as a cab driver.

Obligatory SuperBowl Weekend Fandom

I never thought I’d wave the banner for an NFC East team, but I’ll be rooting for the New York Giants tomorrow. I like them partly because of their underdog status and partly because a bunch of my and my little bride’s coworkers are Giants fans.

I like Eli Manning; I like his dad Archie, and Peyton is OK in my book as well, even though the Colts aren’t in the big show this year.

Still, I can’t muster much enthusiasm. I plan to snack hugely, and have a six pack truckload of Shiners.

Happy Super Bowl Weekend! Go Giants! Yea, Team!
