Fair Weather Fandom

My little bride and I are both extremely fair-weather fans of baseball. However, we both enjoy the ALCS/NLCS/Series coverage, Tim McCarver’s presence in the booth notwithstanding. And we’re both Kansas City Royals fans. The Royals are typically out of any championship hunt by the All-Star break. I can’t speak for her, but after that, I’m pretty much of the National League mindset.

Breaking with that for this year, and having lost nothing in Philadelphia1, we’re both cheering on Tampa Bay.

Go Rays!

Go Rockies!

The World Series starts tonight, and even fair weather fans like myself are compelled to declare an allegiance. At least the Series is devoid of any New York teams. The downside is that we have the Boston Red Sox in their stead. Being a National League partisan, except in the extremely unlikely event that the Kansas City Royals are in the hunt, I’ll just say Go Rockies!

Prison Break Break

No Prison Break on FOX on Monday. Baseball takes over in the autumnal ceremony. I’m an extremely fair-weather baseball fan. When it comes to the playoffs, I notice that I root not for some team I’m passionately for, but rather against a team I don’t like.

So, no Prison Break tomorrow.

Go Tribe. Anyone but Boston.

Fair Weather Fan

America’s pastime, baseball. I’ll admit to being the fairest of fair weather baseball fans, not because I dislike the game, but because being a true fan is really work. There are so many games over such a long season, that it becomes a job (at least for me) to follow box scores, who’s hot, who’s not, who’s injured, etc, etc.

Come playoff time, though, everyone’s a fan, and I’m no exception. So I thought I’d better post up the colors of my team for this year’s playoffs and World Series: the St.Louis Cardinals.
