Hoops Time!

Man, I’m glad my little bride asked me who’s playing basketball now. I thought the NCAA games started around 6 or 6:30, like they did last night.

We flipped over from the NASCAR race just in time to see the last minute of Texas/Memphis.

With KU/Davidson to follow. This Davidson team is no fluke, having come this far. They have nothing to lose, and with their talent, will be a tough opponent. Please, Kansas, think about that. Think about my office pool.

Rock Chalk!

Cinderella Still Dances

As Davidson wins over Wisconsin, 73-56, and I prepare to watch the KU Jayhawks 40 minutes hence, a note to KU: don’t look past Villanova tonight. Do what got you to the dance, then immediately start looking at the Wildcats from Davidson. They are good.1

More Hoops

Ahh, what to do? Davidson leads Wisconsin, who I had picked to lose to Kansas in the next round, 57-45. I like underdogs, and Davidson has already won a warm spot in my heart after they took Georgetown out of the tourney last weekend. I have a shot at winning the pool; a Wisconsin victory tonight would help that cause.
Sometimes, you gotta root with your heart, not your head.
Go Wildcats! (Had to use the Google to find Davidson’s mascot)
60,45, ‘Cats, 10:00 to go, 2nd half.

Bye, Bye Georgetown

Of all the teams I’m glad to see punched out of the NCAA Tournament, I rank the Georgetown Hoyas at the head of the list. Ever since their former coach, John Thompson, became the first US Olympic bball coach not to make the medal round, because he used the Olympics as a training camp for his pathetic Hoyas.

Thank you, Davidson!

Congratulations, General

THe best college coach to ever tread the hardwoods coached his 900th winning game last night. Bob Knight’s Texas Tech Red Raiders were victorious over Texas A&M, 68-53.

It was fitting that the victory was over a nationally ranked team, and happened on Texas Tech’s home court.

Coach Knight had this to say about the win:

“You folks being here, seats being full for a change, really made a difference tonight,” Knight told the crowd before leaving the court.

Congratulations, Coach. Now on to 1000!

Busman’s Holiday

Enough turkey, Shiners and football for a bit. I’m flipping back and forth from QVC to the Washington Redskins game, whilst upgrading the Toshiba laptop to Fedora 8.

I normally do fresh installs; this time I’m doing an upgrade. This all in spite my carefully making backups of valuable files, in preparations for a fresh, “clear the decks” install.

With any cyber luck, all I’ll have to to is recompile the Sierra Wireless drivers and mad wi-fi, and be good to go in time for the KU basketball game tonight.
