Dale the Movie

I don’t know where I’ve been and how I missed this, but there’s a movie about the life and times of Dale Earnhardt that will be coming to a place near you in 2007.

When I first heard about it, I thought I’d have to follow the listings from the local Bijou, and make my first theater appearance since The Passion of the Christ. Not so; from the website, the movie will be shown in “select markets” on “select dates” during 2007. What this means is that to view the movie, a mini Search for America Tour will be necessary. It further appears that show dates fall on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I never thought I’d be taking a couple of vacation days and driving a few hundred miles to see a movie, but man, this is Earnhardt. All I need to do now is convince SWMBO we really need to do this. And buy her breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

The Only Reason to Fly

When one goes on vacation, visiting relatives, or whatever, there is one, and probably only one reason to fly:

You don’t need a box or two to house all the crap you bought while shopping at your final destination.

As I see it, that’s the only advantage to air travel over driving.

Good time to take Vacation

I think I previously mentioned that SWMBO and I are taking this coming week off, to accomplish domestic chores, and generally chill out.

For reasons manifestly unclear to me, she just checked her office web mail, to find out that 40 desktop computer systems and monitors that were destined to be delivered to field offices, have all been mistakenly delivered to her office, where they are now filling the reception area.

I haven’t heard her laugh like this in a long time.

Update: She replied to the mail-o-gram, expressing her distress at not being there to help. She’s still laughing.
